Very nice Amsterdams Bont, or clobbered, bowl. Chinese painted in blue and decorated in Holland. The decoration includes a amorous couple in 18th century European dress. The same side is painted with a popular scene known as the cherry picker of the apple picker. It could also be oranges. The romantic couple could represent Prince William IV of Orange and his wife Anne. The oranges would indicate a harmony between them and the Dutch people. The bowl also includes the popular flower basket and fisherman. On the otherside of the bowl the underglazed blue painting from China is still visible
