A very Nicely painted Encre de Chine Landscape Dish.
It is decorated en grisaille and in gold, with narrow bands at the edge, central scene of an estuary with boats laying at anchor, buildings along the shoreline, and two merchants
standing on a pier near a tower. Howard illustrates a c. 1740 plate in polychrome enamels with a similar scene enclosed within a Meissen-style cartouche and bordered on the rim by
floral sprays. Although the original source for the scene shown here has not been found, related Dutch landscape
views, including several with a turreted tower, are known on Meissen porcelain
